Let Us Introduce Ourselves:
Who is Clarity?
We’re so excited to officially announce that - as of the 1st of June - we have demerged from Advantage accounting as a brand new company. So, here’s a very warm welcome to Clarity Accounting (Scotland) Limited!
As we start out on this fresh venture, we wanted to properly introduce ourselves. So, in this first post, we’ll explain the big change, share our vision for the future, and let our valued clients know whether anything will be changing for them.
What’s in a Name? Why We Chose Clarity
Behind the scenes, we’ve been working hard to start a new business and bring Clarity to life. Yet, one of the toughest decisions we’ve had to make along the way? Choosing our name!
A name, after all, is a huge reflection of a business’s identity and ethos. That’s why we wanted something that neatly summed up what we’re about, whilst also fitting with the core values we’ve committed to build our firm around.
It’s no big secret that we landed on ‘Clarity’. Yet, how did we get there? In this post, we’ll let you in on how we found a name to represent the true spirit of our fresh business venture.

Don't Get Hooked In: Anti-Phishing Awareness
With cybercriminals constantly refining their tactics to trick unsuspecting victims, phishing attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated and more difficult to spot. Just one wrong click can get even the savviest internet users caught up in a scam.
As a business owner, the consequences of a successful phishing attack can be particularly devastating. As well as financial losses, it can also lead to reputational damage and legal implications if clients’ information is compromised.
Navigating Corporation Tax Changes
In recent years, there have been multiple shake-ups to corporation tax. With rates changing - and getting more complicated - since April this year, it’s now more important than ever to understand corporation tax and how it impacts your business.
Value Added Tax
AH, VAT. Who would have thought that three little letters could be so misunderstood? People often fear Value Added Tax - and the relevant rules and regulations that come along with it. Yet, the truth is, VAT doesn’t need to be complicated - and it can actually be beneficial for your business!
So, in this post, let’s walk through how VAT works, whether it makes sense to become VAT-registered voluntarily, and whether cash or accrual is the best system for you.
