Keeping Fun and Team Spirit Alive – Our Visit to the Tutankhamun Exhibit

Working in accounting means our days are often filled with numbers, deadlines, and detailed reports. It’s rewarding work - but it’s also intense. That’s why I think it’s so important to make space for fun, connection, and shared experiences outside the office. Team activities help us recharge, get to know each other better, and remind us that behind every spreadsheet, there’s a person.

Recently, I suggested that the team visit the Tutankhamun: His Tomb and His Treasures exhibition at the SEC in Glasgow. I’d been telling Disha about some of Glasgow’s great museums like Kelvingrove and the Transport Museum, and when I heard about this new exhibit, it sounded like something a bit different from our usual team outings.

What appealed to me most was that it offered something for everyone—it was cultural, educational, and still a lot of fun.

The Experience

The exhibit itself was really impressive and went far beyond my expectations. The storytelling was beautifully done, taking us on a journey through Ancient Egypt and the fascinating world of Tutankhamun. The immersive rooms, visuals, and detailed reconstructions really made the history come to life; it wasn’t just about one pharaoh, but the entire culture that surrounded him.

It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and curious, taking it all in. We don’t often get to experience something like that together as a team.

Why Team Activities Matter

In our line of work, many of us spend large parts of the day focused on individual tasks, so it’s easy to get caught up in the routine. That’s why getting out of the office and doing something as a group makes such a difference. It gives us the chance to connect on a more personal level, share a few laughs, and see a different side of each other.

Activities like this remind us that while we take our work seriously, we can still enjoy ourselves and bring a sense of balance to what we do.

It’s these moments of connection and fun that strengthen our team spirit, and that’s something worth celebrating.
